About our services

Whether you want to give £20,000 or £20m, whether you want to make a single donation or develop a long-term plan and whether you have a lot of time or none at all, NPC can help. Examples of advice we give to clients include creating a portfolio of NPC-recommended charities for the donor to choose from according to their objectives and interests, and helping clients deepen their knowledge about an issue they want to support so they can make more effective funding decisions.

Even if you have less than £20,000 to give, see the various ways in which NPC can help you.

Our range of services runs across the four main stages of philanthropy where some clients want support from start to finish, while others merely want advice on one or two specific issues:

  • Clarifying your objectives and discussing your giving vehicle – Getting started
  • Defining your focus and learning about the issues – Maximising impact
  • Supporting charities and monitoring the grants –Making it happen
  • Reviewing your objectives and processes – Reviewing your funding

NPC provides advice for all kinds of clients. And the services we offer vary according to the type of client. By clicking on the type of client below, you can find out more about what services NPC can offer to you.

Individual clients range from entrepreneurs and owners of family businesses to hedge fund managers and investment bankers. Some choose to involve their children while others have been giving as a family for generations. Some may have family trusts or foundations, others don't even have a charity account.

Foundations and grant-making trusts vary from well-established, professionally staffed organisations giving away anything ranging from £1m to £30m pa to those being set up from scratch.

Companies we work with range from small family businesses to international banks.

We work with private banks, private client lawyers, accountants, family offices and other trusted advisors.

The fees for these services

NPC charges for its services based on a day rate. NPC is a registered charity and does not look to make a profit on the delivery of services to clients. Our day rate covers the costs of delivering a piece of work, and contributes towards ensuring our research can be kept freely available on our website for all who might benefit from it.

Meeting of philanthropy advisor and clients

'It was harder than we thought to give our money away. We were frightened of getting it wrong. Having someone who would make sure all the boxes were ticked was a huge relief.'
