Futurebuilders England Ltd publishes its first learning report – based on a review of their investments and processes by NPC
Futurebuilders is a £125m Home Office backed fund that provides investment packages, made up of loans and grants, to voluntary and community organisations that deliver or plan to deliver public services.
In July 2005, Futurebuilders commissioned NPC to conduct a review of processes, investments and investment decisions from its first application window. This work involved survey of the 79 organisations it had invested in, analysis of its investment data and investment reports, interviews with its investment team, and a survey of other finance providers. It also drew heavily on NPC’s previous research into funding and contractual relationships between charities and the government, particularly into pricing in contracts (the full cost recovery project) and risk in contracts (published in Surer Funding.)
Based on our work, Futurebuilders has published its first learning report – which was released on 20th October, 2005. NPC also made a number of recommendations that we expect to influence Futurebuilders’ processes and investment model for future application windows.
