The credit crunch could be the catalyst for a new dialogue with donors
NPC’s chief executive, Martin Brookes, shared his thoughts with fundraisers at a conference last week on the opportunities and challenges that the current financial crisis brings for them and their charities.
At the annual Raising Funds from the Rich conference, hosted by Action Planning, Brookes argued that the financial climate could change fundraisers’ dialogue with donors for the better, by encouraging them to ‘focus on what matters, namely the results of charities’ work’.
Brookes called on charity fundraisers to push their organisations to measure results seriously, in order to produce an evidence base that could lead to ‘happier donors, more donors and more money’. He also talked about the role fundraisers had to play in educating donors to ask about results.
