Research shows professional advisors are not meeting clients' philanthropy needs

Professional advisors are missing out on the opportunity to meet their clients’ growing philanthropic needs, due to poor marketing and a lack of training for front-line teams. Despite advisors offering an ever-growing array of philanthropy services, and calling on the expertise of third-party philanthropy partners, few clients know about the services on offer. Alongside this, the majority of advisors feel inadequately trained to discuss philanthropy with their clients, and therefore do so only on an ad hoc basis.

These findings, from the report, More advice needed, produced by Scorpio Partnership for New Philanthropy Capital, wise and the Bertelsmann Stiftung, are based on interviews with 100 European wealth advisors. It follows research completed last year on the views of UHNW individuals, which stated that 90% of respondents believed that traditional wealth advisors did not meet their philanthropic needs.

More advice needed is being launched at an event on 23 October, from 8:00am to 10:00am at the Reform Club on Pall Mall. If you are a professional advisor and are interested in attending, or in receiving a summary of the report, contact Anna Wright, 020 7785 6306.
