NPC's work on Inspiring Scotland
In 2007, the Lloyds TSB Scotland for Scotland and the Scottish Government announced a new joint venture, Inspiring Scotland, to support Scottish charities.
The venture aims to help charities that are changing people's lives for the better, by providing long-term funding and development support. For the first time, it brings together individuals, Government, trusts and foundations, and businesses in Scotland, as investors for a common purpose.
Over the next decade, Inspiring Scotland will administer up to ten separate funds, each addressing a different social issue in Scotland. Each fund will be worth up to £10m per year for seven to ten years.
The first fund is for charities that help young people aged 14 to 19 struggling to make the transition from school to further education or the workplace, and was launched in January 2008. NPC produced the fund’s ‘baseline report’ which explored the issue and helped to develop the parameters for investment. The first charities to benefit from this fund will be announced at the end of 2008.
NPC has just commenced work on a second piece for Inspiring Scotland, investigating the potential to develop a second fund focusing on ‘play’.
