The Guardian's 2003 Christmas Appeal raises £809,808
The Guardian and Observer Christmas charity appeal, where NPC advised them on their UK focus on domestic violence, this year has raised £809,808. The nine domestic violence charities, selected by NPC, will between them receive £272,123. Jo Confino, executive editor of the Guardian, said: "We formed a partnership with NPC because it is the first organisation of its kind to provide high quality research into the best charities and projects in any particular sector. By working with them we have been able to make sure our readers gain a real understanding of the range of issues around domestic violence, whilst at the same time ensuring that donations are spent effectively."
