New Philanthropy Capital appoints Nigel Harris as their new Chief Executive

New Philanthropy Capital is pleased to announce the appointment of Nigel Harris as their new Chief Executive. David Robins, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, made the following statement:-
"I am delighted to announce that Nigel Harris will be taking on the role of Chief Executive of NPC. Nigel has been a key member of the management team that has driven the development of NPC over the last two years. I look forward to working closely with him on the challenge of delivering our vision.

NPC is entering an exciting phase as we seek to work with our growing network of charities, donors and funders. Nigel's excellent track record across both the voluntary sector and the City makes him the ideal candidate to lead the organisation forwards.

The appointment comes at the end of an extensive recruitment effort. The selection panel considered a large number of candidates. We were highly impressed by the calibre of the candidates, but were unanimous in our choice of Nigel for the role.

This change has resulted from Bernard Mercer stepping aside from his role as Chief Executive. Bernard will initially be exploring what we might do on environmental issues. We would like to thank Bernard once again for the commitment and vision that he brought to the role over the last three years, and are really pleased that he is remaining a part of the organisation."

Nigel, who will take full responsibility as Chief Executive from 18 October, said:-
"NPC was set up to create new sources of funding for the charitable sector and improve the effectiveness with which they are used. We have already built a good knowledge base and a very committed team. I am really excited about the potential of our work to positively impact charities and the lives of those they work with."

During his two and a half years at NPC, Nigel has helped to build NPC's unique research capability. More recently, as Head of Advisory, he has focused on the development of NPC's advisory work with both funders and charities, as well as defining the future marketing and sales strategy.

Prior to joining NPC in April 2002, Nigel was a consultant to Tearfund, an international relief and development fund. Previously, he worked as an investment banker at Schroders for twelve years, where he was a senior director managing the bank's foreign exchange and interest rate trading teams.
